PathMark Coupon Policy Update: No Double Coupons

A few weeks ago, I was elated when I noticed the blurb on the back of the PathMark ad saying that they now double coupons. I called the management at my local store to confirm this and was told that PathMark stores in Brooklyn would now be doubling coupons valued at .99¢ and under.

Last week, I received an email from a reader saying that when she was at PathMark, she had 5 coupons that did not double. So, I went there this afternoon with a stack of coupons valued at .75¢ and under hoping for a great deal.

The coupons did not double at the register and when I questioned the cashier about their double-coupon policy, she looked at me as though I had three heads. When I questioned the manager about the change in the coupon policy, she told me that she had never heard that PathMark started doubling coupons to begin with. I reminded her that it was on the back page of their ad about 3-4 weeks ago and was told that although she'd never heard of the policy, it must have just been a weekly special.

It was not presented to me as a weekly special when I originally spoke to PathMark management to confirm the change. It was presented as a new rule. Unfortunately, this means that the PathMark coupon matchup lists have been incorrect the past few weeks. I'm going to go back and update this week's matchup list.

I am sorry for any inconvience and overspending that the miscommunication has caused. I will be contacting PathMark's corporate office this week to discuss the matter with them and to see if they plan on making the double-coupon feature a permanant part of their coupon policy in NYC.

If you are looking for a place that doubles coupons in NYC, you're only option right now is Stop & Shop. I've heard that Waldbaum's and Pathmark double in NJ and LI, but not in any of the 5 boroughs.

  1. It is great to see that you are so committed to saving people money and living up to your website's promise to help. It's a shame that this company did not clearly communicate with its employees and customers about the policy. Good luck!

  2. Hannah, Please don't feel as though you are alone. I noticed my Local Pathmark in Brooklyn started doubling coupons when I checked my receipt and multiplied coupon was written in bold under the manufacturer coupon.

I could NOT believe it!! I was very happy. I checked the back of the ad and saw "We are now doubling coupons in bold". A few weeks later on Friday April 1 I made a few purchases and used 3 coupons that should have doubled, I didn't notice at first, but when I got home I realized they didn't double. I picked up the phone and called "customer service" only to have the woman on the phone ask me me if I was sure it was the particular Pathmark in question? (I always shop in the same location) I told her I am absolutely sure and I know what I saw on the receipt and on the ad. Well, she put me on hold and then proceeded to deny, deny, deny. I am even more disappointed in Pathmark than when they are always out of sale items. To make customers feel as though we are delusional is very deceptive and BAD business.

Thank You for all you do

    Sincerely, Marie

  3. Hi Hannah
thanks for being so devoted to the couponing adventure. I for one use coupons and it saddens me that there are only a handful of supermarkets in the 5 boroughs that will double coupons. I have found that we as New Yorkers pay much more for groceries and its a shame that the supermarkets don't double. It's hard being a New Yorker.

  4. Yes its true, pathmark doesn't double coupons in nyc, however, there is stop and shop, they double coupons all the time, and also there is a shoprite in brooklyn that also doubles coupons up to 99c, and some Keyfoods are doubling coupons now as well, up to $1.00.
